Our remarkably versatile polymer, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), lies at the heart of Gore's innovative products.

Bob Gore, now the chairman of the company's board of directors, discovered that rapidly stretching PTFE under the right conditions created a very strong, microporous material. Gore is the world leader in understanding and engineering PTFE, expanded PTFE, and PTFE composites into thousands of varied products.

Gore is an expert in understanding the science behind the vented membranes used in caps and closures. We can engineer the vented membranes to:
-resist liquids of low surface tensions (eg. organics, surfactants, oils and solvent based liquids)
-allow passage of gasses and vapors
-contain small particles
-deliver high airflow after being splashed with a viscous liquid
